I mentioned that last month I happened to host a lot of fun parties – and I did! This was a such a fun time for me because I used to plan events all the time as a minister and I enjoy watching something come together. I also loved being able to be in a place where I could host a party. I’ve lived either in a very small place or not close to anyone for a very long time!
I truly adore getting to have people in my home. I also love having an opportunity to feed them. 🙂
One of my childhood best friends is currently pregnant with her first child! She is my daughter’s “Yaya” and basically an aunt in this household. I’ve known her since I was 4 and it’s so much fun to celebrate our 25 years of friendship. Not to mention that our boys will have to be best friends now. It’s a given.
Because her nursery is going to be navy, red, and grey and it doesn’t really have a theme, I decided a nautical theme would be perfect for her shower! I like to make decorations that can serve in the nursery and I had so much fun adding to it. It also makes me feel like I’m a part of his life.
Here are some pictures of her shower in case you’re looking for ideas for your own nautical themed nursery or shower!
Our “nautical” food choices:
Nautical Knots (pretzels)
Nautical Rope (twizzlers)
Land Lover’s Sushi (pinwheels)
Sea Water (blue punch and the best recipe ever)
Life Preservers (Life Savers)
Cheese and Crackers
Pizza Dip (just because I could) with toasted baguette
Cupcakes (made by one of the best bakers I’ve ever known)
I’m admittedly NOT a games person. However, I wanted to do something special for Yaya and Sea Monkey. So, I bought a scrapbooking album at Hobby Lobby and corresponding paper and had people write something heartwarming and sentimental for Yaya to treasure. I only wish they would have had a book that would have coordinated better! 😉
I made a rag garland out of yarn and fabric scraps to spice up the room and to also be used in the nursery! I also painted a canvas to hang in the room. I chose a translation of a Bible verse based on their personal faith and that it’s not super babyish. I turned a diaper wreath idea into a diaper life preserver and made a diaper cake. A few touches here-and-there and it turned out pretty well!
I think she was pleased. 🙂
Voila! That was it! Would you like some recipes or more details on some of the items? If so, let me know and I’ll gladly share all I know!
